His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, a descendant of the venerable ruling family in the United Arab Emirates. He is currently the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chancellor of UAE University.

Education:

• In 1982, His Excellency obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Administration from the UAE University in Al Ain.
• Earned a certificate of graduate studies in the field of aviation from the UK.
• Attended several specialized training courses in Business and Administration in the UK.
• Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan speaks Arabic, English, and French, and loves sports of all kinds, and practices some, making him eligible to assume responsibilities in the field of sports.

Awards and Honors:

• His Excellency obtained the honorary membership of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 1999 and the honor uniform for Pilots and Airmen Union in London city.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan held several public positions:

• Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research since 2013 to the present.
• Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University since 2013 to the present.
• Minister of Public Works (February 2004-March 2013).
• Chairman of Sheikh Zayed Housing Program.
• Chairman of National Transport Authority.
• Chairman of National Media Council.
• Chairman of the Higher Committee for UAE Civil Seaports & Airports Security.
• Chairman of the Executive Committee for Remote Areas Development.
• Head of Department of General Civil Aviation Authority in 1991, for fourteen years.
• Agent for the Department of General Civil Aviation Authority in Abu Dhabi in 1984.

These authorities have seen major development in their services and performance in His Excellency’s era, and achieved first and advanced rankings in the various development initiatives launched by the Federal Government.

In addition to his posts in the public sector, His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan held several positions in the private sector:

• Chairman of the National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels.

• Chairman of Pearl Azure Hotel Management.
• Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company.
• Vice-Chairman of Abu Dhabi Media.

Sports Field

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan has had numerous contributions in writing the golden history of sports in the UAE through his continuous support, hard work, and outstanding leadership.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak held the banner of serving the country in this field after his father, the late Mubarak Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, who was the first Interior Minister in the UAE and was the head of the largest sport associations in the country, and he gave the sports in UAE all that was needed through occupying a lot of important positions, which promoted the UAE sports.

It is worth mentioning that the deceased Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan formed the first board for the Football Association in the UAE, and played a major role in the rapprochement between UAE people through the great attention paid to the country and citizens.

His son Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan pursued the work of giving and building, and gave a lot to sports in the UAE. So his Excellency has made his mark that will remain clear and renewed through achieving a series of continued successes for sport in the UAE, and his passion for more giving, which will never run out, through the several positions which he has been occupying, including:

• Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Club since 1977, and Al Ain Club won the first place in the championship at the UAE level.
• His Excellency adopted the (Note Clubs) project with Sheikh Mani bin Khalifa Al Maktoum in 1981, which played a significant role in dealing with a lot of topical issues, including the assessment of foreign players, and these clubs have left a good memory in the minds up to this day.
• Vice-President of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Arabian Gulf Cup XII in 1994 / Abu Dhabi.
• Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the GCC Champions League in 1994.
• Vice-President of the Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup from in 1996, obtained Silver Asia, and qualified for the Confederations Cup in Riyadh.
• Vice-President of the General Assembly of the Football Association in 2001, which included 40 members representing all the clubs of the State.
• Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee in the GCC Champions League in 2001, where the club won the championship to become the second club in the UAE that won the football championship.
• Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup, in which the UAE earned the championship title for the first time in 35 years.
• Participated in the 6^th Arabian Gulf Cup (Abu Dhabi), the 7^th (Muscat), the 10^th (Kuwait), XI (Doha), the 12^th (Abu Dhabi), the 13^th (Muscat), the 16^th (Kuwait), the 7^th (Doha), 18^th (Abu Dhabi), and the 9^th (Muscat).

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan spares no effort to support the UAE sports, because he believes it is the fundamental element in the construction of the UAE, which the leadership has sought to be the best country in the world, for its people, and all Arab and Muslim brothers, friends, and the entire humanity. For instance, His Excellency, in May 2015, through his position as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, approved to support the UAE Media Association in the State, since he believes in the importance of its role in society.
