The General Secretariat of the \u201cFederal National Council\u201d in cooperation with the \u201cMinistry of Higher Education and Scientific Research\u201d, represented by the \u201cNational Research Foundation\u201d is organizing, on Sunday (23\/3\/2014), the \u201cFirst Annual National Forum for Emirati Researchers\u201d under the theme: \u201cHorizons and Foundations of Scientific Research in UAE\u201d, at the \u201cGrand Hyatt Dubai\u201d, in order to discuss the challenges and hindrances that face scientific research in the State.<\/p>\n
His Excellency Sheikh \u201cHamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan\u201d, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAE University, said that the forum is held at a crucial time, where Emiratis are racing time to achieve their ambitions and their vision for their State to be in first ranking in the global indicators, achieving prosperity and peace not only in the State, but also in all the world. Therefore, scientific research and innovation are necessary and fundamental; or rather, the only way to achieve all that in all areas. The \u201cUAE\u201d was ranked (19th<\/sup>) by \u201cThe World Economic Forum\u201d in \u201cThe Global Competitiveness Report 2013 \u2013 2014\u201d, and was considered among the phase of economies which are based on innovation, that contain more than (35) advanced economies in the world.<\/p>\n The forum will begin with an opening speech delivered by the Secretary General of the \u201cFederal National Council\u201d Dr.\u201cMohammed Salem Al Mazroui\u201d on behalf of the Secretary General of the (FNC). Three axes are set to be discussed during three sessions. The first is under the title \u201cObstacles and Problems of Scientific Research in the State (Challenges, Opportunities, and Proposals)\u201d, headed by Dr. \u201cHusam Al Ulama\u201d, Director of the \u201cNational Research Foundation\u201d, where three papers will be presented. The first paper is from Dr. \u201cFatima R. Al-Darmaki\u201d, Visiting Associate Professor at the College of Sustainability Sciences and Humanities at \u201cZayed University\u201d, under the title \u201cThe Problems and Future of Scientific Research in the State _ Academic Point of View\u201d. The second paper is from Dr. \u201cMohammed Murad\u201d, the Director of the Centre for Decision Support of Dubai Police\u201d, under the title : \u201cThe Development of National Capacities in the Field of Scientific Research _ Strategic Pillars and Quantitative Indicators\u201d. The third paper is from Professor \u201cReyadh Almehaideb\u201d, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research & Graduate Studies in UAE University; under the title \u201cThe Role of Scientific Research in the Planning and Implementation of the National Agenda of the State _ Challenges and Prospects\u201d.<\/p>\n As for the second session headed by Dr. \u201cMona Al Bahar, a member of the \u201cFederal National Council\u201d under the title \u201cTaking Advantage of the \u00a0Parliamentary Research Approaches in Applied Research\u201d.
